New St. Albans leaders have their first meeting

Taking his seat in the padded red chair in the center of the St.Albans council chambers, Richard Milam presided over his first CityCouncil meeting as mayor.

"I'm getting more comfortable," said Milam, who won the postafter defeating former-Mayor Eddie Bassitt by a nearly 2-to-1margin.

In the largely ceremonial first meeting, Milam and five newlyelected council members got acquainted to their new digs. But Milamdid make good on one of his central campaign themes.

He vowed throughout the mayoral race that all department headswould keep their jobs. On Monday, he delivered by re-appointing allthe city officials.
