DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Command Sgt. Maj. Charles Johnson and his family are newborn celebrities thanks to his daughter's recent accomplishment.
Nicole Johnson, former Miss Virginia, accepted the Miss America crown Sept. 19 in Atlantic City, N.J.
"Under any circumstances, it's just breathtaking," said the elder Johnson, of Headquarters, 3rd Brigade, Fort Gordon, Ga. Johnson lives in Florida with his wife, Emily and son Scott, 22.
Despite his daughter's achievement, Johnson describes Nicole, 24, as "a very normal person ... maybe abnormal in the fact that she's always been focused on success."
