NSW: Desalination plant start date moving target
Sydney's desalination plant has been hailed a technological marvel by the New South
Wales government .. but it is unclear exactly when it will start supplying water to residents.
Premier KRISTINA KENEALLY and Water Minister PHIL COSTA have toured the two billion
dollar billion plant in Kurnell in the city's south .. which can provide up to 250 million
litres of water a day.
Ms KENEALLY says operation of the plant will not mean the end of water restrictions
.. with the state facing the challenges of climate change and increased drought.
Mr COSTA says the Water Wise rules will always remain .. no matter the output of the
plant or the level of Sydney's water catchments.
